19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former trainer Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on court had caused some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional victory, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early break points in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
